"Ohio Wills and Estates to 1850: An Index," by Carol Willsey Bell, 4801

1840 and 1850 Ohio census indexes (at Newberry Library, Chicago) list several
Jacob Riders, including one in Jackson twp, Montgomery county.

"History of Montgomery County, Ohio" Chicago: W. H. Beers & Co., 1882 (at
Newberry Library, Chicago) page 365, under Butler twp --
David Ryder, retired farmer, PO Vandalia, was born November 2, 1812. His
father, Jacob Ryder, was a native of Pennsylvania, and was united in marriage
with Mary Wortee; she departed this life in 1819. They were the parents of nine
children, five of whom are living, viz: Catharine, Elizabeth, John, Susanna,
and David. The subject of this sketch obtained his education in the common
schools, and was brought up to farm labor. He came to Ohio with his father,
locating in this county, Jefferson township, in 1828. etc etc.
Also states that David Ryder was a member of the New School Lutheranchurch,
married Catharine, the daughter of John and Mary Keener, in 1834.

"A Genealogical Index of Pioneers in the Miami Valley, Ohio" Lindsay M.Brien
(at Newberry Library, Chicago) page 146, Montgomery county

Stone, Sally, wife of Wm. Earhart; Henry Foreman, husband of my third daughter;
Elizabeth, wife of John Arisman; Susannah Rider; sons David, Jacob, & John.

"Notes and Queries: Historical, Biographical, and Genealogical," William Henry
Egle, Vol. 1, P. 2; Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Company, 1970 (at Mesa,
AZ LDS Family History Center) mentions a Wendel Henry who married Magdalena
Rider (born Jan 24, 1808, died Mar 8, 1864); an Eve Henry who married Rev.
Jacob Rider; and an Andrew Henry who married Catharine Rider. Any possible
connection to our Rider?

PA census indexes (at Mesa AZ LDS Family History Center) list
Jacob Riders in the following counties:
1800: Adams, Luzerne
1810: Jacob Sr., Jacob Jr., both Adam county
1820: Lanc, Berk, Colu
1830: Adam
Not conclusive!

Rider genealogy by Bond (LDS microfiche 6049103, at Mesa AZ LDS Family History
Center); written in 1917
Says that Riders were among the earliest settlers of New England; John Rider
born about 1698 came to MD early in the 18th century. His son George came to
southeastern PA, and his sons William J. and Thomas came to Woodstock, IL.
A Jacob Rider, great-grandson of George, lives at Martin's Ferry, OH (Martin's
Ferry is on the OH-PA border; this is probably not our Jacob, but there may be
a connection).

Mike:
the name Irion (actual spelling) originally was spelled G"urion,
Gyrion,
Gerion, Gereon and is derived from St. Gereon. The Irion families
are coming
from the region aroud Tuttlingen (on the uppermost Daube river), in
particular from the village of Talheim. I have some data on these
families.
When you are more specific, perhaps I could help you.
