3. Lila Katherine Freimark

Provided by Heloise (Ross) Johnston:
Obituary of Mrs. E. S. Ross.
Lila Katherine Freimark was born at Hartley, Iowa, April 18,
1888. Here she
lived until the summer of 1905 when she came to South Dakota. She
attended
scholl in St. Lawrence a few months then went to teaching. She
taught five
years, the last year of her teaching being at Sunbeam school.
She was married to Edwin S. Ross July 21, 1909 at the home of her
parents
who were then living west of the Missouri River. Her few short years
of married
life have been lived on their farm in Holden township in Hand Co.
Here she
fulfilled her mission as a devoted wife and mother.
During her last few days when her family were all sick with the
influenza
she remained up as long as possible caring for the others. Pneumonia
and other
complications soon developed and with all that medical skill and
loved ones
could do she could not resist this dreaded disease.
She was called to her Heavenly Home on the evening of Feb. 11,
1920.
She leaves to mourn her untimely death her husband, four
children, Hildred,
age 8, Howard, age 7, Helen age 5 and Heloise age 20 months; her
father,
mother, one sister, Hilda, and two brothers, Arnold and Rolland.
She joined the Presbyterian church in St. Lawrence before her
marriage,
later bringing her letter to the Sunbeam Congregational church of
Holden Twp.
Words cannot express the loss that will be felt, first in her
home and then
by all her friends and neighbors. She was a faithful member of the
Sunbeam
Ladies Aid and in all social activities of the community she did her
part.
Chaplain Guy P. Squire, a friend of the family and former pastor,
conducted
services at the home on the afternoon of February 14th, 1920.
Many beautiful floring offerings were contributed. Interment was
made in the
Sunbeam cemetery.
